چکیده

Effects of systemic hypertension on right ventricular (RV) performance have not been previously investigated. In this study, 10 normal patients were compared to 20 patients with uncomplicated, asymptomatic essential hypertension (defined as cuff diastolic blood pressure 2 100 mm Hg) after a complete hemodynamic and RV cineangiographic evaluation. The mean intra-arterial pressure in the normal group was 93 ± 11 vs 120 ± 13 mm Hg in the essential hypertension group (p < 0.01). All right-sided pressures were substantially higher in the hypertensive than in the normal patients (mean right atrial pressure: 2 ± 1 mm Hg for normals, 5 ± 3 mm Hg for hypertensives,p < 0.01; RV end-diastolic pressure: 3 ± 2 mm Hg for normals, 5 ± 2 mm Hg for hypertensives, p < 0.05; mean pulmonary artery pressure: 12 ± 3 mm Hg for normals, 17 ± 5

Application of centrifugal pump in right ventricular failure due to pulmonary artery hypertension. (A case report)

Background: It has not been yet developed a ost suitable method to treat right ventricular failure due to pulmonar artery hypertention resulted from ventricular arrhythia. Though some case reports about patients ready to heart transplant using left assist device or biventral assist device as bridge have been published in Journals, but nocase concerning application of centrifugal pump for treatm...

Evaluation of Advanced Echocardiographic Parameters of Right Ventricular in Patients with Pulmonary Hypertension

Background and Objective: Pulmonary hypertension is an increase in blood pressure of the pulmonary artery which leads to right ventricular dysfunction. Therefore, the present study aimed to compare echocardiographic parameters in the study of right ventricular failure in patients with pulmonary hypertension. Materials and Methods: In the present descriptive cross-sectional study, data were col...

Right ventricular performance in essential hypertension after beta-blockade.

Recent studies indicate that right ventricular performance is impaired even in uncomplicated systemic hypertension. Because of widespread use of beta-blockade in essentially hypertension, it is possible that such treatment often further depresses right ventricular contractility. To test this premise, and to evaluate the changes induced by different beta-adrenoceptor blocking agents on the contr...

Doppler-Derived Myocardial Performance Index in Healthy Children in Shiraz

Background: Assessment of myocardial function is essential in heart disease, but in regard to systolic and diastolic functions such evaluation has limitation. Ejection fraction is difficult to assess in abnormally-shaped ventricles, and diastolic inflow velocity pattern may be fused because of tachycardia. Objective: A myocardial performance index (MPI) or Tei index has been developed for adult...

بررسی عملکرد بطن راست در بیماران مبتلا به COPD با یا بدون پولموناری هایپرتانسیون براساس معیارهای اکوکاردیوگرافیک و مقایسه آن با افراد سالم

Background and Aim: Pulmonary hypertension is an independent risk factor in COPD.  Echocardiographic evaluation is important for determination of prognosis in these patients. Cardiovascular manifestations in COPD include increased arterial stiffness, ischemic heart disease, chronic heart failure and cor-pulmonale.  Some studies suggest that right ventricular (RV) dysfunction occurs in early sta...
